AGB Education Centre Leadership Forum 2009 Leadership has always been identified as the most important challenging role played in this century. Coupled with new global trends, it is a challenge for all leaders to continuously generate creative solutions to overcome and resolve problems. Leaders will have to face with multiple obstacles and direct teams towards success. Leadership is often termed as the exercise of authority, whether formal or informal, in directing and coordinating the work of others. The best leaders are those who can simultaneously exercise both kinds of leadership: the formal, based on the authority of rank and the informal, based on the willingness of others to give service to a person with special qualities of authority. However, in today’s context, the demands of leadership have gone beyond developing capabilities, delivering great performance and long-term strategic goals. The role of leaders has also evolved towards a more motivational role and relational style. Hence, the AGB Education Leadership Forum’09 (LF) organized by AGB Education The format of the Leadership Forum would be a 1D non-residential camp where participants (Star Leaders) from each secondary will attend sharing sessions, which involves discussions with our AGB Education’s professional trainers as facilitators. On top of that, participants will have the opportunity to participate in discussion sessions with keynote guest speakers, whom possess great experience in leadership. Both the participants and the facilitators will benefit from the insights as well as the leadership opportunities through work activities. Objectives: The primary objective of this forum is to provide a platform for star young leaders to share and relate about their individual leadership experience and challenges faced during their workshop. Date: 4th Week of May 2009 Forum was chosen because it fosters interaction and discussion, which ultimately achieves the proposed objectives. Unlike any other leadership programmes, the forum is non-competitive in nature, but emphasizes on teamwork, experiential learning and communication skills to be able to handle the challenging issues or topics. The forum also provides an excellent platform for young leaders because,
The forum will use highly interactive discussion settings, whereby the young leaders will be segregated into five different groups. Each group will handle different issues and topics. Through the groupings, the young leaders will be able to socialize with new friends, and learn to cooperate and work on different issues together. Each group will have a facilitator (Subject Matter Expert) to share valuable knowledge and insights.
Expect a highly meaningful and impactful AGB Education Leadership Forum 2009, where young leaders will get to share their experiences with the other young leaders.
In this Leadership Forum, expect interesting, thought-provoking and current topics to be discussed. This will be an interactive forum where not only the young leaders get to learn about current trends, current teachers-in-charge will also be able to share their valuable experience.
According to Kirkpartick’s 4-levels of Evaluation, the first level is through understanding the audience’s reaction in this forum. This will be accomplished through the video-recording of the whole forum. Thereafter, this video will showcase the complete process of change in each individual leader after attending AGB Education Leadership Forum 2009.
In this 1 day leadership forum, there will be involvement of successful alumni leaders from different secondary schools to share their experience and knowledge with the young leaders on different topics. Young leaders will definitely benefit as they are able to see real-life role model of exceptional leaders. Also through this forum, a closer relationship will be fostered between alumnus and school. This can help to build up the school’s involvement reaching out to alumni.
