Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Diploma TESOL)

AUCS - Approved University Credits Scheme

This course awards credits towards the M.Sc. in Education from Nova University.

The Diploma in TESOL is specifically targeted at those who are interested in teaching English as a second or foreign language. This Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification.

The course period is approximately 4 months of 120 hour duration. This course aim to equip you with skills for you to embark on your career as a English Teacher.

For the experienced teacher, it gives you the chance to improve on your teaching skills and to obtain a recognised qualification - for your own career advancement.


By course completion, students will:

• understand how language is acquired
• understand what constitutes errors in a language
• know the principles on which modern language teaching is based
• understand what phonetic and phonology are
• know which methodologies can be used to teach English
• know how to use materials and aids to teach English inthe class
• know how to organise the class
• know how to design lesson plans


On completion of your course, you will receive two qualifications:

Qualification 1:
LTTC Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages 
(Dip TESOL issued by The London Teacher Training College)

Qualification 2:
ASET Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
  
This Course leads to an ASET Level 5 Award Certificate for successful learners. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSE's are at levels 1 and 2 and A Levels are at level 3).

This course is accredited by ASET. ASET are a leading National Awarding Body, recognised in the U.K by the Department for Education and Skills (DfEs), Learning Skills Council (LSC) and the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA).

Admission Criteria

To apply for the certificate course, all applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 5 ‘O’ Levels with credit in English.

• Recognised Certificate or Diploma.

• Mature applicants or applicants that do not meet any of the above will be   considered by interview conducted on a case-by-case basis.
